Arturo and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra to celebrate Carla Bley at St. Ann’s Warehouse, December 14

On October 30, St. Ann’s Warehouse announced details of its 2024-25 concert season, which includes Mundoagua: Celebrating Carla Bley, a program by Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra on December 14. Co-presented by Belongó (formerly the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance), the program is a tribute to Arturo’s beloved mentor Carla Bley and will include her composition Blue Palestine, which was commissioned by Arturo and the ALJO in 2020. The performance will also include two original compositions by Arturo; Mundoagua, which was commissioned by the Columbia School of Music to commemorate the Year of Water, and Día de los Muertos, which was inspired by a book about the Aztec people.
